The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles contain
some of the best first hand documents of the history of England up
to the year 1154. These descriptions and accounts are told be
contemporaries and not only relate the chronological events but give
us a flavour of their viewpoints and opinions. Along with William
the Conqueror's Doomsday book, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles form the
basis of English History between the fall of the Roman Empire and
the subjugation of England by the Normans. |
