ENGLANDHISTORY.COM - Where history comes alive

Documentation from this periods leaks down to us from a few famous sources such as the Anglo/Saxon Chronicles and the Dooms. Those documents as well as others were written or kept secure by the church authorities in England as the y became established and entrenched. It was not a period of great intellectual development and most people were illiterate,  but the primary pieces we do have tell a fascinating story of the Angle Saxon age.
