The evolution of the position of
Prime Minister or First Minister to the King had been developing
for over 600 years when Robert Walpole first filled the role as
we recognize it today. Walpole however would not have claimed
the job title as something we recognize today. He thought of the
position more so in terms of the real power he was able to weld
and not in terms of titles, tradition or ceremony. These
trappings were to develop over the next 200 years. |
